Another iPhone game that will take up my life

I can hear my boyfriend screaming "put down that freakin' iPhone, NOW!" when I read this news:

No game captured my imagination when I was growing up like SimCity. Certainly, a part of it was my God complex, but more it was the open-ended nature of a game with few rules that let you build a city. I spent countless hours on my computer playing it, I even spent countless hours on the Super Nintendo playing it when it was ported to that console. Now it’s coming to the iPhone — countless hours will be lost again.

So... I guess I'll be single in about a moth?

I haven't been making updates as frequent as I want to, simply because it's absolutely busy here! My workload at work is up to my knees; I have a 350 people reception fundraiser to prepare and it's less than 2 months away; and I have so many other commitments I haven't even touched yet. It was much easier life to be a monk, but I guess this is the tradeoff for not having to sit infront of a table and chant for 12 hours a day.

Anyway, I just found out about this website today and I think it's really worth it to pay a visit in our daily blog-clicking ritual, it's called freerice.com.

"FreeRice is not sitting on a pile of rice―you are earning it 20 grains at a time. Here is how it works. When you play the game, sponsor banners appear on the bottom of your screen. The money generated by these banners is then used to buy the rice. So by playing, you generate the money that pays for the rice donated to hungry people."

The website started off when a father wanted to help his 16 years old son learning new vocabularies for his SAT. When it started only 3 people were playing it, but now millions of people are on the website everyday and since October 2007, 34 billion grains of rice has been donated to the UN.

For a few minutes a day, you could be learning new words AND donating rice, again, it's easier than sitting infront of a table and chant for 12 hours a day.

Edit: I just spent like 5 minutes and I already helped donating 1040 grains of rice!

A Rhyme Thump

We are having a lot of fun at work today... ehm... apart from working very seriously, of course. Anyway, someone found this website which can generate anagram out of any words. We start putting our names in it, and the best one that came up for me is: "A Rhyme Thump".

I also like "Hammer Thy Up", doesn't that sound kind of seductive in a year 1312 kind of way? Like "hey, big boy, want to hammer thy up?"

Things we do at work to try to make our day goes faster on Friday.

Demonic Nintendo

My blood pressure went up slightly after reading this article: Ninten-Don't... How I watched my children turn into monsters the minute I bought them a computer game.

If you know me, or have been following this blog for a little, you know I'm a huge videogame fan. I still have every single game console I have since I was little: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Colour, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PS, PS2, PS3 and PSP. I was literally raised by my videogames. So, for people who has no gaming experience to write ignorant articles like this one, I have the responsibility to defend my precious little blinking boxes. Hence, this open letter is for you, Ms. Rosie Millard, and all those mothers out there who should take more responsibilty of their childrens' behavior than to blame toys or things that was originally meant as entertaining not babysitting. Virtual me

In real life I might be a skinny short Asian guy, but in the vitual gaming world, I'm a big bulky Galka.

I'm currently quite addicted to FFXI Online. I've never really like online games, mostly because dealing with other online players can be a painful experience. Also depends on what system you're on, the lag time can be bad enough to put the fun out of the equation. But after a few frustrating hours with the game at the beginning (mostly because it is a well established game and there is less support for a newb like me) I start to like it a lot.

The game still has all the essence of a Final Fantasy game, yet it has quite a bit of flexibility. I'm currently a Red Mage and enjoying every minute of it. I think I'll pick a more specialize job class once I level up a bit more. Eventually, I want to be either a Dark Knight, Summoner, or a Puppetmaster.

More than one minute

I love visiting Adam's blog, he always have something fun for me to do during the I-don't-feel-like-doing-anything-right-now moment at work. Today, I learned that I can actually survive for 1 minute 11 seconds in the vacuum of space.

PHEW! I can at least finish my cup of hot chocolate before my head explode.

Wii Fit Meditation

As much as I love meditation and the Wii, I think this is a little too much.

I mean, all it does is have you sit on the Wii Fit sensor, then show you a screen with a burning candle on the TV. Occasionally, a moth might fly by: THAT'S IT! Oh, and if your posture is not correct, you'll get punished by having a monk scream at you. In real life, a monk will hit you on the head with a wooden plate: I rather use my Wii-mote for that purpose than to play this "game".

I challenge all of you to watch the 180 seconds demo of this "game".

Stuipd bee

There this new "game" on the movie The Golden Compass website. It's like a personality test and when you're done, it chooses a Daemon for you.

Adam from thisboyelroy got this cool Snow Leopard Daemon, so I thought I'll play and see what kind of exotic "animal" I would get...

Out of all living things, my Daemon is a BEE??? What the heck! It said I'm "assertive, sociable, spontaneous, shy and dependable." SHY??? When have I become shy? In the test, I even said I always talk to strangers at parties!

If you are as shocked as me, please help by clicking onto the the game and re-access it... I heard it might morph! (Adam's changed from a snow leopard to tiger today!)

Elf me

Bill sent me this and I just couldn't resist to create my own elf dancing show... it's a bit slow but I think it's worth it to watch.
