I’m addicted to So You Think You Can Dance.
My respect for reality TV shows, despite a lot of them are trash, is that they gave me a new perspective of a lot of jobs that I thought was easy but I never knew how difficult they can be. For example, as crazy as America Next Top Model is, I do learn to respect the modeling industry a little more because I see that there’s actually some hard work that put into a model before a good picture can be taken.
Out of all shows, So You Think You Can Dance has to be one of my recent favourites. The dancers that got picked on the shows are so talented. I never like dancing myself, nor I can dance (I do little Asian bounces when I am on the dance floor, and that’s as much coordination I have with my arms and legs), so I always just think that people who can dance are naturally born that way. What I didn’t realize, until I watch the show, is the amount of time that a dancer has to be dedicated to their art before their performance. It’s truly a form of art.
The top 20 show was on last night, and this year the dancers are absolutely awesome. There are a few performances that made me feel like watching Cirque Du Soliel. Out of all of them, this following one is my favourite. It might not be the best of the bunch, but it’s rather emotional for me. It’s done by contemporary chorographer Mia Michaels. Honestly an amazing piece.
